As adults, it’s not uncommon to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Work, education, running a business, being a parent, etc. It all takes up a lot of time leaving very little for your mind to wander.

Fortunately, some of us have a strong sense of imagination and our minds wonder quite often. If you’re not mentally wandering into a world of fantasy throughout your day, consider taking time to consciously doing this. To give you an idea of what I’m talking about, here’s a list of the random acts of imagination I have at any given point of the day.

When stopped at a red light, I sometimes stare at the traffic light the way the actors in The Fast and the Furious do before taking off on a quarter mile. Except I don’t race or speed when the light turns green. Drive safe.

When I’m cooking, I imagine myself as @nusr_et #saltbea from Instagram. Smoothly slicing through meats, charismatically chopping veggies and herbs, salting with sass, and seditiously stirring the ingredients I the pan.

When I’m lifting weights, I imagine Arnold Schwarzenegger working out. Nuff Said.

When I write, I write as if I’m already a well known author and people are on the edge of their seats waiting for my next publication.

When I sit passenger in a car, I imagine running from rooftop to rooftop, jumping from building to building, like a scene from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, as an actual tiger.

When I read books in Spanish to my children, I try to sounds like actor Wagner Moura who played Pablo Escobar in Narcos on Netflix.

When I was in high school, I would of daydream of doing the most marvelous breakdancin’ power moves I could imagine. I still do this today.

Battle of the Year 2007 France

When I’m at my day job as an analyst, I get so hyper focused and into my work that I sometimes imagine myself as being Neo in The Matrix.

As many people who go for nature walks know, it’s fun to enjoy the wonder of wandering, and you can do this from anywhere with a little imagination and mental liberty.
