A Wonderful Weekend

I’m going to jump right into it…

It’s been a busy few weeks for me. I haven’t taken anytime towards writing, blogging, or vloggin. However, I’ve spent a lot of extra time with my family and working on some continued education, so the trade off is well worth it to me. This past weekend was particularly satisfying for me and it was so satisfying, I felt compelled to share it with you.

My wife and I took on a yard-clean-up project in the Summer of 2016 and didn’t have much time to dedicate to it, but we worked on it when we could until the winter came. It was especially challenging to work on the yard when our daughter was born earlier this year. Luckily, I made a fire pit when we first started so we’ve been burning branches and brush slowly since then. This past weekend, we finally got to finish burning the mountain of a pile we had made (the pile was about 5 feet high and over 10 feet long so it took a while) and it resulted in a terrific memory that I’m still smiling about now.

It was great to finally get rid of all the landscape debris and see how much extra space we have. We had two fires: one at night and then one the next morning. The night fire was nice and relaxing. My son was already in bed asleep and my wife joined me with our daughter for the beginning of it. The baby loved it. She stared at the fire while sitting in Mommy’s lap. I sat beside each other in a couple of folding camping chairs until she brought the baby in for bed. That’s when I got closer to the fire and spent some time with myself. It was a beautiful night. The sky was clear, the stars were out, the fire was hot and kept the mosquitoes away. It was nice to just relax for a few hours. fire pit

The next day I started early and had my son out with me. This fire was smaller because I had my son. My wife and daughter joined us as well and we all picked up the little sticks that were left scattered around. It was a great morning and a fantastic way to start the day. My wife and I are big on camping and hiking so it’s nice for us to see that our children enjoy the same things.

I had picked a bike that someone left in front of their lawn with a FREE sign on it the morning before. It’s a small 16″ BMX and thought it would be a great little project to do over the weekend. So I grabbed it, stripped it down to the ball bearings, cleaned it, and reassembled it. It just needs a new front tube for the tire and it’ll be good as new. My son loved helping me out, playing with the tools and fiddling with the bike parts, which was excellent bonding time in my eyes.

Dirty Bike

Now, it may seem like I’m just story telling and sharing my weekend adventures with you, but there’s more to this. You see, I blog and vlog for free, I don’t get paid for it. I do it because I love sharing my knowledge with people. And as for my paid services, I don’t just train for fitness and nutrition, it’s not just about athletic coaching. Today, the fitness industry is saturated with people with six pack abs, muscle striations you didn’t know existed, and millions of people who can do one are pull ups.  So, when I created A Living System™, I thought about life as a whole.

People, they dedicate the majority of their life to fitness and nutrition but… do you? I sure don’t. Fitness and nutrition are only a piece of the pie. I’ll be the first to tell you that I don’t have the biggest arms, the lowest body fat percentage, heck, I don’t even have a six pack, nor do I prep my meals for the week with dozens of plastic-ware containers. But I do have is an awesome family, a balanced life, and happiness. And to absolutely honest with you, I wouldn’t trade it for anything! I’d skip a workout on the weekend if means time spent laughing, bonding, and creating memories with my wife and kids. Better to be around for them than to be selfish and miss out on these days. I get about 2-3 workouts a week and I can always get back into more later in life. I’m more focused on the fact that you can’t get back time, so it’ll be wise of me to live in the moment and be a part of my family now, rather than a less desirable alternative.

Besides, who would want to miss out this cutie?
